Design Factory Aveiro is a strategic unit of the PCI Creative Science Park, and its main vocation is the articulation between research and industry. Through its internal team and in collaboration with the research units of the University of Aveiro, DFA develops design, prototyping, and communication projects for industry, shaping and implementing new technologies and solutions.

Concept

Research and benchmarking; Program definition – problem, typology;

Definition of concept and sketch; Volumetric modeling/mock-up; Product and detail design; Modelling;

According to the Design Ladder of the Danish Design Center, DFA seeks to support projects in their various stages of development – from the beginning, contributing to the analysis of the problem, the definition of the programme and typology of products; or giving shape and materializing the ideas received already in an advanced stage of development.

Communication

Creation of Visual Identity; Strategy Design and base materials for communication.

On 2021, DFA integrated the Design Factory Global Network (DFGN) – a network of innovation hubs in universities and research organisations in five continents of the world. DFGN is on a mission to create change in the world of learning and research through passion-based culture and effective problem-solving. Shared understanding and common ways of working enable Design Factories in the network to collaborate efficiently across cultures, time zones and organisational boundaries fostering radical innovations. We are actively working with the Global Network towards new projects and initiaves, also welcoming students in internships.
